Hello everyone. Happy Monday.


Today while I was getting up off the floor in my aerobics class this morning and I was thinking; ” gee, I can’t wait till I can get up off the floor in one motion.” I have to do 2 moves with both of my hands to get up off the floor. That will be one huge NSV or non scale victory for me, when it does happen. Progress towards getting fitter and healthier is not always measured by the scale. That scale can be a finicky thing. You can be up 2 lbs in one day for no good reason. I think we need to celebrate our non scale victories when they do happen. Actually I think they are more important to me than the number on the scale. I will be soooo excited when I can get myself off of the floor in one fell swoop. I feel like an old lady every time I get up off of the floor. I hope in time, it will happen.


Another NSV for me, was outgrowing the plus sized store and plus sized section at Wal-Mart. The clothes are too big for me now, hallelujah. What is one non scale victory you have had since starting on your fitness journey?


You need to celebrate every little success on your health journey. The number on the scale does not tell the whole story ladies. I know we can get fixated on the numbers when we do weigh ourselves. But, the scale cannot tell us how much muscle we have or how much water weight we are holding onto. We are not the number on the scale and we need to remember that. I was reading some studies on Intuitive Eating, which I am doing not 100 percent, but mostly and underweight individuals have worse health outcomes than normal or overweight individuals. So being overweight is not as bad as it is made out to be. And, intuitive eaters have lower BMI’s and higher self-esteem and lower cholesterol than dieters. Amazing statistics. We need to get rid of diets forever they do not work in the long run, most people gain all their weight back and then some after a diet. I could go on all day about dieting and its negative effects, but I will save that for another post.
