So, one more week till Christmas; are you ready? I am all ready, because I am visiting my brother in California this week and I have to have everything bought and wrapped. This time of the year we are all stressed and our self care habits can be ignored. We are so busy, cooking, cleaning, shopping and completing other holiday duties. I believe that we must take care of ourselves before we can take care of anyone else. Just like when you are on an airplane and they instruct you to put on your oxygen mask before you put on your child’s mask. It all makes sense.

By taking care of ourselves, mentally, physically and spiritually we can then take care of our loved ones. When we feel good, we have the energy and patience to deal with other people and any issues they may have. I remember when I was not taking care of my own needs, I was tired all the time, lacked patience and was just miserable. I did not want to go the extra mile for my son or for anyone else. I just did the bare minimum to get by. I was too tired to get off the couch and play with him or to run with him. I had no patience with him, because I was so frustrated with myself and my lack of self care. I was much more overweight than I am now and was just ignoring my own needs.

I have learned that by taking care of my body and mind, that I am a much better mom to my son. I am finally happy with so many aspects of my life. It is not an easy journey, but one that is worth taking.

So, take time out in the morning to exercise, meditate and read some self help books and put yourself first. Everyone has the same 24 hours in the day and use them wisely.

This week I started my rice vibe experiment. I have 3 jars of rice on my counter. I have one labeled ignore one labeled hate and one labeled love. Every day I talk for one minute to the hate jar and say negative hurtful things to it and then I say loving things to the love jar and I ignore the ignore jar. At the end of 2 months, the hate jar of rice should look nasty and rotten and the love jar should look as good as new and the ignore jar should be somewhere in the middle. It will be proof that our thoughts actually send out vibrations that can physically change us and our environment. I am very excited to see the outcome and see if this experiment will turned out as planned. You can watch how the experiment works on You Tube. I will keep you posted.
